Road Trip Anyone?

Its a nice fall afternoon. The weather is cool, but not too chilly, and the sun is past its noon position in a sky too blue to be true, as though its been Photoshopped. The road is calling youdo you hear it? But where can you go to take advantage of this incredible weather? How about a foliage driving tour? Consider the following:

Connecticut River Loop
This tour, centered around the historic Connecticut River, begins at the Florence Griswold Museum
in Old Lyme and continues through Essex, Deep River, and Haddam.

Connecticut State Route 169
This road, considered one of the last unspoiled areas in the Northeast and designated a National Scenic Byway, takes you past museums, craft and herb shops, and structures that pre-date 1855.

Mashantucket to Brooklyn
Yes, you read right, Mashantucket! Get some gambling in at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, and then consider visiting the Mashantucket Pequot Museum before heading out on Routes 2 &164 to drive past vineyards, lakes, and farms until you reach Brooklyn.

Also considered a National Scenic Byway, Route 15, better known as the Merritt Parkway, meanders through Fairfield county and contains excellent examples of Art Deco or Art Moderne in its various bridges along this roadway to Westchester county, New York.
