An additional 1 to 4 inches of snow is expected for most areas tonight.
That stubborn band of heavy snow is still hitting most of the state, although there are some breaks in the action across New London County. Many areas have already recorded 6 to 7 inches of snow, with just under 5 inches in New Haven as of 7:40 p.m.
Most of Connecticut will finish with 4 to 8 inches, with some 10 to 12 inch amounts.
Those communities across interior New Haven County that already have 6 to 8 inches will finish with the highest totals.
Into the evening:
Periods of heavy snow will continue for most areas through 10 p.m. The snow will start to let up across southeastern Connecticut. The snow will taper to lighter snow by midnight with only a few leftover snow showers expected beyond that. Most of the accumulating snow will happen over the next few hours.
An additional 1 to 4 inches of snow is expected across western and northern Connecticut.
Most areas already have anywhere from 3 to 7 inches of snow on the ground. There are locally higher amounts in New Haven County and some portions of eastern Connecticut have seen a little less than 3 inches.
