A Fresh, Snowy Sunrise

I have always been a lover of snow and all things winter.  The only downside of snow is that a few days after the storm, the snow gets “dirty.”  The snow banks reveal the sand and salt that has been spread, the snow cover in the yard starts showing the dirt that lies beneath and supporting the twigs that fallen from above.  At this point, it needs a “freshening up.”

This morning God sent that nice new layer, in an amount almost everyone can be happy about.  In Preston it was only 1 inch of fresh powdery snow.  That means that no one is going to have to spend hours with a heating pad after moving the stuff (no one is this region is ready for that again so soon).  What is does mean though, it that the tree branches have a fresh painting of snow resting atop them, the grunge in the snow banks is, at least temporarily, hidden, and all the world seems fresh, clean and peaceful this morning.  And I am not about to ruin that by reading the morning newspaper!
