After highs on Tuesday that were stuck mainly in the 40s, we enjoyed an incredible Wednesday with highs soaring into the mid 70s in our warmest spots. A cold front tonight will bring a few scattered showers and a bit of a cool-down for Thursday, but only for one day. Temps will gradually warm up into the weekend with plenty of sunshine that could make this the nicest stretch of weather we have seen since last fall.
Here are the temps the last few days in Bridgeport:
The normal high is 61 degrees.
And the temps up at Bradley Airport:
Wednesday: 75. (Not a record…that was 88 degrees set on this date in 2001)
The normal high is 64 degrees.
Although we have amazing weather coming up, we are starting to see signs of the dry 2013 so far and we definitely could use some rain.
At Bradley Airport, the year so far has seen 9.78″ which is almost 3″ below average. We had even less by this point last year…so even though we got out of the drought last spring and summer, two straight years of below-average precip makes a new drought much easier.
In Bridgeport we have seen 10.64″ of rain this year which is 2.65″ less than what we should have…very significant this early in the year. As with Hartford, Bridgeport also saw very little rain during the first few months of 2012 (only about 8.5″) which again means going back into a drought after two straight worrisome years is not out of the question.
