Hello everyone! Today looks like a pretty good day, midday that is, however, later this afternoon there could be some strong to severe thunderstorms across the state. The picture above shows the NAM model run of the surface Convective Available Potential Energy (CAPE), with CAPE values of about 250 to 1700 J/kg. This could support strong to severe thunderstorms, especially across northwestern Connecticut, with very little activity if any at all in southeastern Connecticut. If the sun is out late this morning and early this afternoon, daytime heating will persist, and then spark thunderstorms later in the afternoon. However, if the sun does not come out this morning and early this afternoon, the chance for strong to severe thunderstorms won’t be very high, so, keep that in mind, daylight is not good in this situation.
