Lowest Dew Points & Temperatures of July

After a relentless stretch of 31 days of dew points over 70 degrees, the streak was finally broken yesterday with the lowest dew points of the month arriving! Here in Hamden at my station, the dew point stayed under 60 all day and went down to 50 degrees at 5 a.m.!

Nearby stations such as Oxford Airport had a dew point of 45, and Tweed Airport with 47!

In addition to the drier air, the temperatures were at the coolest of the month! The low temperature was 59 here in Hamden, he first time into 50’s since June 21.  Also the high temperature was just 66, which occurred just after midnight. It felt just like October actually and was about 20 degrees below normal, an the coolest high temperature since June 13!

Yesterday was also noteworthy for being quite dramatic in temperature change from one week ago. On July 18, the hottest temperature of the month occurred with 96 degrees and a heat index of 114! So yesterday was 30 degrees cooler, and actually felt 48 degrees cooler compared to the heat index of one week ago!
