News 8 is proud to partner with the Sandy Ground Project and local advertisers to help heal the families and communities affected by tragedy.
Created by the New Jersey State Fire Fighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJFMBA), Sandy Ground: Where Angels Play is building 26 playgrounds along the coast in areas ravaged by super storm Sandy. Each playground will be dedicated to a victim from the tragedy at Sandy Hook elementary school and built to represent the individual’s personality. They will be living memorials and symbols of hope and recovery. The project’s estimated cost is between 1.8 to 2 million dollars but with an outpouring of generosity from around the country, 11 playground have been completed.
