NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A 21-year-old man was arrested by police after allegedly forcing his way into a Newington apartment Thursday.
Newington Police responded to the Lowery Place Apartment complex around 7:30 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of a home invasion.
According to police, when officers arrived they made contact with the suspect, 21-year-old Mario Francois, as he was leaving the building. Francois was arrested.
The incident happened at 259 Lowery Place; the home of an adult man, an adult woman and a 6-year-old child.
Police said the residents reported that Francois came to the apartment intending to assault the male resident with a knife.
Francois allegedly forced his way into the apartment, but was pushed back into the hallway.
Police said the female resident was cut on her forearm with the knife, while trying to prevent Francois from getting into the apartment.
A kitchen steak knife was found in the hallway of the apartment building.
Francois, of East Hartford, was charged with home invasion, risk of injury to a minor, 3rd-degree assault, 2nd-degree reckless endangerment, threatening, and breach of peace.
Bond was set at $100,000.
