Harp unveils new school programs

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven’s new mayor turns her attention today to keeping students in class.

Mayor Toni Harp is headlining a news conference later this morning to address attendance, truancy and graduation rates.

She is expected to relay the details of a new truancy program that will uses a graduated system of parent notifications, home visits, and referrals, to cut down on the number of students who cut class.

Today’s news conference begins at 10 a.m. at the Strong School on Orchard Street.
