Norwalk pet store evacuated

NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) — A Norwalk pet store was evacuated for a time Thursday because of a suspicious package.

The incident happened at the Puppies of Westport shop at 255 Westport Avenue.

“Puppies of Westport as well as the surrounding businesses have been evacuated for safety,” Lt. Paul Resnick, Norwalk Police Department, said in a statement.

The alert was called in to 911 just after 11 a.m. The bomb squad arrived and checked out the package, and it was deemed harmless.

The area is now back to normal.
