MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) — Police say two Middletown High School students were arrested after authorities responded to a report of a pistol at the school.

Lt. Heather Desmond says officers searched the students involved and the entire Middletown High School and did not find a gun.

Desmond said she would not detail the charges against the students because they are juveniles.

A student alerted authorities on Thursday morning that another student had implied possession of a weapon.

The high school and Keigwin Middle School were locked down as police carried out their investigation. Both schools have since reopened.
