1dead, 2 injured after car strikes Hartford building

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — One person has died and two others were injured after a car ran into a building in downtown Hartford.

The crash happened at 2180 Main Street at around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when it careened off the road and into the building, which is near the intersection of Capen Street.

The man who died, 24-year-old  Darien Hodges, of Hartford, was sitting in the front passenger seat, according to police.

The driver and another passenger were taken to an area hospital, where both are in stable condition.

The names of the other victims have not yet been released.

Police will be doing toxicology reports as part of their investigation.
