VERNON, Conn (WTNH) — An alert citizen is credited by the Vernon Police for helping them catch a burglar.

Police say the alert citizen called 911 shortly before 8:00AM on Sunday after they saw a male exiting a broken window at Vernon Tailor on Talcottville Road.

When police responded they found Jonatan Garcia-Calzada, 21, hiding in the nearby woods with stolen cash.

Police say Garcia-Calzada burglarized Vernon Tailor and Shelly’s Hair Studio, which are in the same plaza.

Garcia-Calzada is charged with burglary, larceny, and two counts of criminal trespass. He was held on $50,000 bond and will appear in court on Monday. Vernon
