Snow plow “ride along”

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Snow plow drivers trying to get rid of slush and widen the roads, but they say it is difficult to do so when people at home are not following the rules.

Even after long hours, plow operator Jeff Donaldson says he truly enjoys plowing the roads. But, he also says it is frustrating to hear that people at home are irritated.

“I’ve been watching people dig their cars out and if they got them off the street last night, they wouldn’t have had to dig them out.  I just don’t understand why they don’t listen to the parking rules,” said Donaldson.

He is hoping that people pay attention to the latest snow emergency declared by New Haven Mayor Toni Harp, who was briefed by all department heads this morning.

There is a parking ban on all posted snow emergency routes, a downtown and residential parking ban that just started at 6:00 PM and goes until 6:00 AM.

So, Donaldson repeats that if cars stay out of the way, then they can get the snow off the road before it freezes into place.
