Two car crash closes part of Route 1 in Milford

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A two car accident involving a handicapped van carrying adults with special needs closes part of Route 1 in Milford Friday morning.

Boston Post Road is blocked off between Plains Road and Erna Avenue while crews clean up leaking fuel caused by the accident.

The driver of the van ran a red light on West Clark Road and a car hit the vehicle, puncturing the gas line.

About 8 to 9 adults were traveling in the passenger van at the time and none of the injuries appear to be life threatening.

Some of the passengers have gone to the hospital to be checked out.
