Business owner arrested for illegal gambling

ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– A local business owner has turned himself in after police raided his shop for evidence of illegal gambling.

Police arrested Stephen Scott, who is the owner of the “Mousepad Business Center & Tech Solutions” in Enfield.

The shop offers a “Sweepstakes” where customers can buy a telephone calling card to enter the “sweepstakes” but according to police the contest is actually a form of gambling.

The raid comes less than a month after state lawmakers said they plan on cracking down on illegal gamblers.
