Conn. insurance website affected by maintenance

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut’s health insurance marketplace says “substantial portions” of its website will be unavailable because two federal agencies will be conducting their annual system maintenance activities.

Access Health CT said Wednesday their site will be affected beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. The Social Security Administration and the Veterans Administration are expected to finish their work by Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 8 a.m.

Individuals who want to have their coverage begin on March 1 must complete their enrollment by 10 a.m. on Saturday, before the maintenance work begins.

Data from Social Security and the VA is used to verify applicants’ identification and determine whether they are eligible for subsidies. Access Health CEO Kevin Counihan said he’s disappointed the maintenance is being conducted so close to the March 31 open enrollment deadline.
