WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– A Waterbury physical education teacher is accused of sexually assaulting a student.
That teacher, 25-year-old Meghan Eagan turned herself in to Waterbury police Saturday.
Eagan, who is a physical education teacher at Crosby high School, was charged with four counts sexual assault.
Eagan is accused of having a sexual relationship with a male student. According to the arrest warrant, she allegedly had sex with the student four times during late December and January.
According to officials, the alleged sexual encounters took place at Eagan’s home and not on school grounds. It is Eagan’s first year at Crosby High School.
Residents were shocked to hear about the accusations.
“We are supposed to respect and look up to our teachers as not only teachers but leaders and examples, and that’s very, I don’t know if it’s the sign of the times. It’s sad for the teacher, the child, the community and the school,” said Marilyn Moffo, Waterbury resident.
She has been placed on administrative leave pending the police investigation. She posted bond and will appear before a judge at the end of this month.
