Fatal Plainfield crash closes Route 12

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Part of Route 12 remains closed from a fatal car accident early Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the Wauregan Village area of Plainfield.

The blue 2005 Saturn Ion was traveling south on Putnam Road, exited the right side of the roadway, struck a snow bank and then smashed into a utility pole. 

The driver of the vehicle is identified as 22-year-old Robert Perry Jr. of Plainfield. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. 

A section of Putnam Road remains closed as a result of the accident while crews replace the utility pole. 

The accident is currently under investigation and the Plainfield Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident or if anyone has any information regarding the accident to the contact the Department at (860)564-0804.
