NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH)–There is a free program for military families that apparently, no one really knows about. It’s free snow plowing while a loved one is deployed.
News 8 decided to catch up with the guys who even though they offer snow removal for military families, nobody has called them for it.
It’s been a long winter for Dino Tudisca and his crews but he’d gladly answer the call to clear the driveway of a deployed service man or woman’s family.
“There’s a lot of sacrifices that everybody in the plowing industry make with their family but it’s still nothing that the military families make on behalf of us to have our freedom. So I’m more than happy our crew is more than happy to continue to give back,” said Dino Tudisca, Exterior Solutions.
Tudisca’s company Exterior Solutions is part of Project EverGreen’s Snowcare for Troops. But so far with all the snow we’ve had and with so many military members away from home he still hasn’t gotten one request for help.
“Well it can’t be because people like shoveling all this snow so I’m thinking it has to be fact that they just don’t know about it,” said Tudisca.
And that’s why News 8 is doing this story. For families like Todd Lavoie’s. He’s a veteran of the army national guard.
“I know around my house I have to do all the duties and if I was gone I don’t know who would be able to do it so I’m sure there’s other families out there that are the same,” said Todd Lavoie, Veteran.
“We even reached out to Navy housing and asked them to get people involved and we still haven’t gotten anyone involved in this SnowCare for Troops and as tired as we are we’d still like to help out,” said Tudisca.
It’s never too late to sign up for this service. Once the weather gets warmer the SnowCare for Troops becomes LawnCare for Troops. The website to get in contact with these folks is projectevergreen.org.
