13 people arrested in New Haven drug raids

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — New Haven police say they arrested 12 men and a woman during drug raids targeting two prominent gangs in a neighborhood near Interstate 91.

Police say the arrests came after undercover officers conducted sting operations and bought drugs from nearly two dozen people, most of whom were members of the Playboys and 88 Boys gangs.

Police say the raids targeted the Foxon Hill area off exit 8 of Interstate 91, because of a high-level of gang-related drug selling and violence.

Authorities say they searched one apartment and seized 8 grams of crack cocaine, 60 bags of heroin, $1,400 in cash and a West Haven Police Department portable radio, which was set to the New Haven police channel.

Police prepared arrest warrants for 21 people and say more arrests are pending.
