Slick roads in the early morning

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The thermometer may be above freezing, but cold ground and melting snow could combine to make roads and sidewalks slippery this morning.

“It is a very challenging start out there this morning,” Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said.

“We’re going to have the ice around through about 9 a.m.,” Simmons said.

A few school delays were reported Thursday morning. Other schools were off for their winter break.

After a brief thaw going into the weekend, it’s expected to be colder and could be stormy again next week, Simmons said.
