WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The weight of heavy, wet snow and ice could cause some roofs to collapse. If you’re a homeowner, News 8’s Jeff Valin shares these tips to lessen the risk to your home.

  • Remove Snow From First Few Feet Above Gutters
  • Clear Area Around Downspouts
  • Insulate Attic
  • Install Water Repellent Membrane
