HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is traveling to Washington D.C. for meetings with President Barack Obama and governors from across the country.

Malloy and a group of fellow Democratic governors were scheduled to meet with the president on Friday.

Over the weekend, Malloy was scheduled to participate in the winter meeting of the National Governors Association. Job creation, education reform, infrastructure improvement, restructuring of health care and development of energy resources are expected to be discussed during the two-day event.

Malloy serves as vice chairman of the NGA’s National Resources Committee.

On Monday, Malloy was expected to attend a Council of Governors meeting at the White House. The president appointed Malloy to the group last year. Created in 2010, the council reviews matters involving the National Guard and homeland defense.
