LITCHFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Litchfield schools are surveying students in an effort to better understand youngsters.
The Republican American reports that the anonymous “Profiles of Student Life” survey is set for March 13. Litchfield is the latest area school district to survey students.
Torrington has issued one on bullying and Waterbury has twice issued the same survey about to be given in Litchfield.
In Litchfield, a sample survey includes questions about gender identity, drugs called by their street names, sexual activity and whether a student has ever carried a knife or gun.
Justin Roskopf, a senior survey specialist, said the intent is to determine the development of young people and if they are engaging in risky behavior.
Litchfield Schools Superintendent Deborah S. Wheeler said the Board of Education is trying to understand the extent of drug and alcohol use.
