Alert in Bethel after man chases girl

BETHEL, Conn. (WTNH) — Police issued a neighborhood alert to parents in Bethel after a seventh grader told them a man in a white van stopped, got out, and chased her.

It happened around 4:15 Monday afternoon on Putnam Park Road. The girl told police she had just gotten off her bus and was walking home when she noticed the van stop in the middle of the road. She says that’s when the man got out and ran towards her.

The girl ran to a nearby house. she said that spooked the man. He took off.

A letter has been sent to every parent in the Bethel School District describing what happened.

Police say the man is white, around 5′ 10″ and about 30-40 years old. The van is a white Ford Econoline-type van. Anyone who may have information about the man or the van is asked to call Bethel Police Department at 203-774-7900.
