Sister of Rep. Ayala faces drug charges

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — The sister of a Connecticut state representative is expected in court next month to face drug and motor vehicle charges.

Ines Ayala, 39, was pulled over on Feb. 24. Police say she ran a red light, was driving an unregistered car, had a suspended license, and they found cocaine in her car.

She is due back in court on April 2.

Ayala is the older sister of Rep. Christina Ayala, who has had her own share of run-ins with the law. She pleaded no contest last year to evading responsibility after leaving the scene of an accident. She’s also under investigation for voter fraud, along with her mother, the Bridgeport Democratic Registrar of Voters.
