4 kids hospitalized in Enfield school van crash

ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– Four kids were hospitalized after a school van crashed into a tree in Enfield, Wednesday afternoon.

CREC says a Dattco van, carrying four students from CREC Museum Academy, was en route to their stop around 3:40 PM when the driver  left the roadway and struck two trees on Moody Road.

Fire officials, EMS and police extricated a passenger from the van.

All four students received cuts and bruises. One of the students went unconscious but regained conscious shortly after.

The students were sent to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

No word on the condition or extent of injuries for the driver.

There are reports that the bus might have swerved to avoid another vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 860-763-6400.
