MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH)– This is Saint Patrick’s Day across the land and a lot of wearing of the green. New Haven held its annual parade over the weekend but there are many celebrations Monday.
News 8 stopped by the annual parade Monday morning in Middletown.
It’s been a cold winter and if you look closely in places like downtown Middletown…
“Open and rockin,” said Rocco Lamonica, GM Eli Cannon’s.
…you’ll see signs of spring on both sides of the street.
“These are our rainbow cupcakes,” said Stephannie Anderson, Baker NoRA Cupcake Company.
“We have the bagpipers all afternoon,” said Lamonica.
Green is everywhere.
“It’s just awesome,” said Lamonica.
Although on this day you’re probably better off thanking St. Patrick than the changing seasons.
“That’s why I’m wearing green,” said Anderson.
For every conceivable shape of a shamrock leaf there is a different way to celebrate.
“We have a lot of Irish themed cupcakes for the holiday,” said Anderson.
Some indulge in sweets.
“We have an Irish flag cupcake called pot of gold,” said Anderson.
While others just indulge.
“It’s very easy going, enjoying St. Patrick’s Day,” said Lamonica.
But you don’t have to be Irish or even like cupcakes for that matter to get in on the holiday, just make sure you’re wearing green.
“Well you have to wear green. You have to wear green,” said Lamonica.
A celebration where you can move to your own beat.
