22-year-old shot in Southington parking lot

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)– A New Britain man was arrested for the shooting of a 22-year-old man in a Southington parking lot, early Sunday.

Police say they responded to the parking lot near Center Street around 1:40 AM after they received a 911 call that a person had been shot.

Officers found a man suffering for a single gunshot wound. The shooter had fled the area.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is undergoing surgery.

Police later arrested Jesus Morales Jr, 31,  in connection with the shooting. He was taken into custody near his home without incident.

Morales was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Southington police at 860-621-0101.
