Two shot, one killed in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–Two men were shot and one was killed in the area of Butler and Lilac streets in New Haven on Monday night.

Police said the shooting took place near Lincoln Bassett Elementary School at around 9:30 p.m.

Police also believe there was a third victim who was assaulted but not shot. That victim was found in an apartment on Newhall Street, and police are investigating to determine whether or not the crimes are connected.

Both gunshot victims were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where one was pronounced dead. T

At least six police cars drove away from the scene, each with a person in handcuffs in the back.

Police are still investigating the incident.
