3 charged with gas station kidnapping in Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH)– Three men were charged with kidnapping after assaulting, robbing and forcing a victim into their car in Danbury Monday night.

Police say the responded to the 7-11 at 219 Clapboard Ridge Road around 10 PM to the complaint of a hold up.

The victim there told police that  earlier  in the night he had been at the Mobil on North Main Street with two other friends. He said he was counting his money inside and when he left the store, he was approached by John Fernandez, 21, and Christopher West, 24, both of Danbury. Both were known to the victim.

Fernandez and West then began to assault the victim and demanded he give them money. After, he was forced into a car and driven to Clapboard Ridge Road where they continued to assault him and demand money.

During the car ride, the victim said Fernandez and West also threatened to take him somewhere and kill him with a firearm.

The victim jumped out of the moving car near the 7-11 and contacted police.

After an investigation, a third person Ivan Guevara, 20, of Danbury, was also identified as a suspect. The three suspects were found at a hotel in Bethel and arrested.

John Fernandez was charged with violating, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery , kidnapping  with a firearm, conspiracy to commit kidnapping with a firearm, assault, conspiracy to commit assault and threatening.  He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Christopher West was charged with violating, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, kidnapping with a firearm, conspiracy to commit kidnapping  with a firearm, assault, conspiracy to commit assault and threatening. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Ivan Guevara was charged with violating, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, kidnapping  with a firearm, conspiracy to commit kidnapping  with a firearm, assault, conspiracy to commit assault and threatening. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
