Man Arrested for Fraudulently Collecting Unemployment

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH)- New Britain police arrested a 36-year-old man for fraudulently collecting unemployment benefits.

Police say Andres Ortiz, of New Britain, received more than $14,000 in unemployment compensation benefits. He’s charged with first degree larceny and unemployment compensation fraud.

Police say Ortiz was employed and wasn’t properly reporting his wages, while collecting the benefits between February 2009 and June 2012.
