As we all know, spring has arrived but the temperatures are still well below average across the state. We’ve had a few teases of spring like temperatures on the past couple weekends, but they were short lived. The good news is that there is a pattern change in the near future in store for us.
At face value, the long range models (GFS, ECMWF, and CMC) do show a warmer pattern come the end of March and into the beginning of April. Looking at the 250mb upper level flow, the trough in the jet stream that is currently overhead propagates eastward. A ridge begins to set up over the area for at least till the end of the month. This would support a warmer pattern for us which will hopefully bring an end to these dramatic variances in temperatures we have seen.
