Correction officer slapped with sexual assault charge

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — An officer at the Hartford Correctional Center is being held on $500,000 bond after he was arrested for an alleged sexual assault in the backseat of his SUV early Thursday.

Kelvin Grisales faces an aggravated sexual assault charge for the alleged incident in which police said a woman suffered a black eye and was threatened with a BB gun.

“The call originally came in by the victim,” said Hartford police Sgt. Glendaly Garcia. “She gave a description of the vehicle and the vehicle was located driving in the area.”

The alleged sexual assault happened in the rear parking lot of the Sport and Medical Sciences Academy on Huyshope Avenue, police say in court documents.

Police are investigating whether the alleged incident, which Grisales claims was consensual, is tied to similar assaults reported in Hartford and New Britain.

Grisales has been placed on administrative leave, the Department of Correction said in a statement.
