Police: BOLO for suspicious men in box truck

WATERFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Waterford police say two suspicious men in a white box truck were seen in two different neighborhoods — but the truth is those men may be in another neighborhood today.

“Apparently, they were in my backyard,” Waterford resident Maureen Mack said Friday.

Mack said the suspicious activity has her and neighbors rattled. She said the men, who are described as very large in stature, were looking in cars and houses.

“So I don’t know if they were looking to see what was in the house, what was in plain sight, what they could get,” Mack said.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified said he saw a man looking in his car while it was in the driveway.

“I opened the door and asked him what he was looking for and he said he’s here to pick up phone books,” he said.

Apparently, that excuse is all part of the ruse when these men are confronted or questioned by residents.

“A guy was looking through windows, through different houses and then he took off and then yesterday we (saw) a guy walking down the street,” said another neighbor who didn’t want to be identified.

Meadow Drive and Maple Court were targeted this week. With all this attention from alert neighbors, however, they may not be back here but you can be sure they’ll be scoping out another neighborhood.
