(WTNH) – There’s a smartphone app that can help people suspected of driving drunk. It was created by an Iowa law firm. The creatively named app was designed to tell people what they can and can’t do when being pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving. One of its creators says it lists basic legal rights, has a blood alcohol calculator, and an emergency button for when a person is being stopped.
The button also turns on your phone’s voice recorder, so you know exactly what you and the officer pulling you over says, in case you forget. A Sheriff in Iowa has concerns about the app. He says having anything in your hands when a police officer approaches your car could put the officer on edge. He’s also worried it could be used for the wrong reason, to help driver’s get away with drunk driving. The creators say they don’t want users drinking and driving, but hope they’ll use the app to stay informed of their rights.
