NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Connecticut is getting its own version of March-weather-Madness, Monday. Snowy conditions slowed down the morning commute and caused several accidents.
Did you think you were done hearing that sound until next winter? A lot of people did.
But no foolin’, the day before April first brought a couple inches of snow to many of us. And of course it all happened during the Monday morning commute.
Folks from all over Connecticut sent photos into Report It chronicling their nightmare-ish drive to work.
A sign on I-84 sums it up pretty well, a 17 mile delay. That’s a long haul.
Were those the only drivers affected?
“No, just from my house. Didn’t expect it, let’s put it that way. It’s usually a 15 minute commute, right now it’s going to take me a half hour because of the accident on the highway, so now I’m going to have to go the back roads,” said Jen Waddell, North Haven.
It’s been spring now for about a week and a half, and Monday is opening day of baseball season, which means the boys of summer are playing. We should be thinking of heading to the beach and catching some rays. But instead of making sandcastles, we’re making snowmen.
“This winter’s hanging on. It’s never going to end, this winter,” said Tom Camire, Meriden.
You gotta feel bad for Tom, he works third shift at Pratt and Whitney. He was heading home when this surprise snowstorm hit, and all of a sudden, it was February all over again.
“I’m hoping, I wanted to go golfing Wednesday, but I don’t think I’m going to make it,” said Camire.
When told it’ll melt by then, Camire said, “nah, it’ll be too wet.”
