Firefighters pull woman from burning home

SCOTLAND, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman had to be rescued from a home in Scotland last night as fire crews responded to a fire on Brooklyn Turnpike.

Scotland Fire Department says the fire started around 11:30pm  in the home at 572 Brooklyn Turnpike. A woman was rescued by firefighters from the second floor of the burning home.

Her husband was outside.

The woman was transported to Windham Hospital. Life Star then took her to Hartford Hospital, and to the Bridgeport Hospital’s Burn Unit for unknown injuries.  No details were provided of her condition.

A firefighter also received burns to his face and legs. He was treated and released at Windham Hospital and later returned to continue fighting the fire.

Scotland’s six volunteer firefighters battled the fire until around 4:30 

The home received extensive fire, smoke and water damage. It is now  uninhabitable.

The State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
