Man gets 3 years in prison in Conn. pot bust

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A New York man who was busted with 315 pounds of marijuana in Connecticut has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Fifty-six-year-old Oves St. Orbin Wright of Massapequa on Long Island was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Hartford. He pleaded guilty in October to conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute marijuana.

Authorities say Wright and Kevin Dunbar of Manchester, Conn., were caught in May of last year receiving a shipment of 315 pounds of marijuana in Enfield and driving it to a storage facility in East Hartford. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents discovered the pot while searching a tractor-trailer in western Texas, and authorities set up surveillance on the drugs.

Dunbar has pleaded guilty to the same charge as Wright and awaits sentencing.
