BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – In the past two weeks, the Bridgeport Police Department says it’s received six reports of a groper stalking and harassing girls on the city’s East Side.
The suspected groper has been targeting young girls ages 13 to 18, said Bridgeport police spokesman William Kaempffer, who added that police are talking to an individual but the investigation is ongoing.
“There’s an individual that detectives tried to speak with,” Kaempffer said. “He requested a lawyer and that’s his right but that’s not diminishing the investigation.”
The last incident happened on March 27, the police spokesman said. The girls are students at local schools, including St. Andrew Academy, Bullard-Havens and Harding High.
Kaempffer said police have upped patrols in these areas and advised that East Side residents stay vigilant for suspicious behavior and, if possible, stick to main roads.
School officials could not immediately be reached for comment but public safety officials say a letter about the suspected groper has been sent to parents.
