EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – A new Belgian-style brewery that says it’s the first of its kind in the state opened in East Haven on Friday, the New Haven Register reports.

Overshores Brewing Co. takes over a warehouse-style building at 250 Bradley St., which once housed batting cages among other commercial businesses, a town official told the paper.

According to the brewery’s website:

Overshores Brewing Company is dedicated to the Belgian style of making beers. To be “Belgian” means to never compromise on taste, richness, strength of alcohol, and enjoy total freedom in choosing ingredients. If it makes the beer better and more interesting, put it in.

The first batch won’t be ready for at least another six weeks but once the beer starts flowing folks can come and be served on site, according to the Register.

Overshores is the 19th brewery to open in the state, according to the CT Beer Trail.
