Man found dead inside overturned SUV

REDDING, Conn. (WTNH) – A 35-year-old Redding man was found dead in his vehicle early Saturday, the result of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, police said.

The man was discovered about 1:40 a.m. inside his SUV, which had rolled onto its side on Umpawaug Road near Mallory Lane, police said. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

It’s not yet known if the man shot himself before or after the SUV crashed, police said.

Police said the gun was registered to the man. Right now it doesn’t appear anyone else was involved in the incident, police said. An autopsy was scheduled Saturday to determine the cause of death.

Police are asking anyone with information or anyone who might have witnessed the crash to call Sgt. Peter Quinn at 203-938-3400.
