WTNH– Two young moms from Madison, sisters, have come up with a children’s consignment shop “pop-up” strategy in which a lot of people are reaping the benefits.
They are setting up the events. Twice a year a long the shoreline, moms can bring their children and shop and have a cup of coffee. There’s a play area for children and they are even incorporating a give back strategy for non-profits.
Their concept is called “circlemint.” Circle because items are being used over and over again and “mint” because the items they take in have to be in nearly “mint” condition.
“I knew we were going to do something . I have a 7-year-old and she has a 6-year-old. They’re a year and one month and one day a part and by the time her son was born, we would spend the weekend together, having brainstorming sessions. What are we going to do, we’ve got to get back to work. I needed to go back to work. A lot of moms face this. They have children, they came from a corporate background. Now they’re at home and you love your kids dearly, there isn’t anything you wouldn’t do for them. But the boredom sucks the life out of you. And so we have always been trying to come up with something to do since we left the corporate world to take care of our children. And our husbands are still very much involved in the corporate world, have very demanding jobs. They travel quite a bit and so if we went back to work to doing what we did before, we’d need nannies. We’d need full time help and so this is part time. We can do it from home. I’m making banana bread and like texting with my sister and emailing on my phone and I’m on Facebook. I gotta contact Ann, we’re multitaskers,” said the moms.
