STORRS, Conn. (AP) — UConn students filled up the team’s on-campus arena more than an hour before tip-off to watch Monday night’s national championship game on television.

Gampel Pavilion opened at 7:30 p.m. and closed its doors just a half hour later after reaching its capacity of more than 10,100 fans. Some students waited in line for more than four hours to get a seat.

The school also hired a disc jockey and planned a dance party on the plaza across the street from the arena after the game, in an effort to keep crowds of students under control — win or lose.
