UConn students get ready for the big game

STORRS, Conn. (WTNH)– News 8’s Tina Detelj went to UConn Monday to find out what they’re doing to get ready for the big game and what they’ll do Tuesday if most students are still home celebrating.

Workers are preparing for a party here at UConn at Fairfield Way after the game Monday night. There will be a DJ after the game. Even part of Hillside will also be shut off for all the masses.

“I think I’m gonna add on probably another paw print somewhere,” said Kelsey Hust, a junior.

Showing off that Husky pride.

“I’ve had this hat for the last ten years. I’ve been a Husky fan for a really long time. I just love having a reason to wear it,” said Zack Gersham, a sophomore.

Zack Gershman still loyal to the old school Jonathan.

“I love him so much. He’s so fluffy. He’s so fluffy,” said Gershman.

Any way you look at it, the excitement is growing for Monday night’s game. Gampel opens up for a viewing party at 8 PM

“We’ll be in Gampel tonight with a ton of other students,” said Hust.

“I’ll probably stay in the dorms watch the game just so I can see the whole game,” said Meaghan Walker, a freshman.

When asked if she’ll make it to class Tuesday, Kimberly Colgin, a sophomore said, “yeah I have a lab tomorrow at 9 AM I’ll be there.”

Others catching a break professors moving exams in preparation for the late night excitement.

“I’ve actually had some of my classes already cancelled so I might make it to the rest of them,” said Gershman.

Husky pride on full display. Whether they win or lose , you know they’re going to win – this campus is going to be buzzing for at least the next two nights.

Some UConn professors have canceled Tuesday morning classes and moved exams that were scheduled for then. This is not something the university is doing but individual professors are able to do this.
