6 injured in Middletown car crash

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH)– Six people, including children, were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a car crash in Middletown.

Police say they responded to Route 17 at the Wesleyan Hills Road intersection around 7:20 AM to a car collision.

An investigation revealed that a white GMC pickup truck, driven by 17-year-old Umberto Spada, was traveling north when he crossed the center line. The car then collided with a gray Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 42-year-old Jennifer Wargo.

Spada had two other juveniles in his car and Wargo had her two children in hers, police said.

Everyone was taken to area hospitals for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed it is asked to contact Middletown police at 860-638-4063.
