NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– New Haven police are investigating an attempted bank robbery that happened at a bank inside a grocey store Monday evening.
Police say around 6:39 PM, a man passed a note to the teller of People’s Bank at the Stop & Shop at 150 Whalley Avenue. The note indicated that the man had a gun and for the teller to hand over some cash. But the teller didn’t give the man anything so he took his note and left the store. The teller then notified police.
Police say the man is described as being older with a dark complexion and a medium build. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt with a “New York” logo on it, blue jeans and a blue and orange baseball hat.He also appeared to be 5’7″ tall and had crooked teeth and brown eyes.
The suspect also left in a black Nissan Altima.
No weapons were displayed and no one was injured.
The incident is under investigation.
