Clerk assaulted during armed robbery

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH)– New London police are investigating an armed robbery of a convenience store where a clerk was assaulted on Wednesday.

Police say around 9:18 PM, they responded to the Galaxy Convenience Store at 121 Montauk Avenue to the report of an armed robbery.

The clerk told police he was robbed by two men and that one of them hit him over the head with what turned out to be a fake handgun. The clerk suffered from a laceration but declined medical treatment.

The suspect who hit the clerk with the gun is described as a 5’8″ tall, white male with a thin build. He has green eyes and tattoo design around the corner of one eye. The suspect was also wearing a white jacket and jeans.

The second suspect is described as a 6 foot tall, black male, with a heavy build. He was wearing all black clothing.

Police are continuing to follow up on leads and information during their investigation.
