NEW HAVEN, Conn (WTNH) – The defunct Star Supply property on Upper State Street is set to get a major makeover.

The New Haven Register reports that the City Plan Commission this week approved the site plan for 235 apartments – ranging from studio to one-, two- and three- bedroom units – and the potential for a restaurant, at the former industrial site.

According to the Register:

The existing structures will be demolished, with the exception of the two-story building at Mechanic and Lawrence streets. The first floor will be available for commercial use and potentially house a restaurant; the second floor will be designed for residential. … It will take some six months to finish the design work with construction to continue for about 18 months.

The site is a short walk from such restaurants as Mezcal, Rice Pot and The Pantry. A rendering of the proposed development can be viewed on the Register’s article.
